Cartaro Product Management: Build a Catalog That Sells

Your product catalog is the heart of your online store. Cartaro gives you everything you need to add products, organize them into collections, manage variants and inventory, and generate AI-powered descriptions and SEO — all in Arabic and English.

A well-organized product catalog is the difference between a store that converts and a store that confuses. When customers can find products easily, understand what they are buying, and compare options clearly, they buy with confidence. When the catalog is messy, incomplete, or hard to navigate, they leave.

Cartaro's product management system is built to help you create a catalog that does the selling for you.

Adding Products

Every product in Cartaro starts with a few essential fields and grows as detailed as you need:

Basic Information

  • Title — Your product name in both Arabic and English. This appears on your storefront, in search results, and in Google.
  • Short Description — A 1-2 sentence summary that appears on product cards and search results. Think of it as your product's elevator pitch.
  • Full Description — The detailed product page content. HTML-supported for formatting with headings, bullet points, and bold text.
  • Materials — A dedicated field for material composition (cotton, leather, stainless steel, etc.)

Pricing

  • Price — Your selling price in AED
  • Compare-at Price — An optional original/RRP price shown as a strikethrough next to the current price, creating a visual "deal" for customers

Status and Publishing

  • Product Status:

    • Draft — Hidden from your storefront. Use this while you are still setting up the product.
    • Active — Published and visible to customers.
    • Archived — Hidden from your storefront. Use this for discontinued products you want to keep in your records.
  • Availability Status:

    • In Stock — Available for purchase
    • Low Stock — Still available but running low (creates urgency)
    • Out of Stock — Not available for purchase
    • Pre-order — Coming soon, customers can order in advance
    • Backorder — Available to order but fulfillment will be delayed
  • Published At — Schedule a product to go live at a specific date and time. Perfect for product launches and timed releases.

Special Flags

  • House-Made — Mark products that are your own brand or custom-made. These can be targeted by discount codes, filtered in collections, and highlighted on your storefront.
  • Pickup Eligible — Mark products available for in-store or showroom pickup.

Product Variants

Many products come in multiple options — sizes, colors, materials, or configurations. Cartaro's variant system handles this elegantly:

How Variants Work

  • Option Labels — Define up to two option types per product (e.g., "Size" and "Color")
  • Variant Entries — Each combination gets its own entry with:
    • SKU — Unique identifier for each variant
    • Barcode — Optional EAN barcode for inventory management
    • Price — Variant-specific pricing (or inherit the product's base price)
    • Inventory Quantity — Track stock per variant
    • Availability Status — Each variant can have its own availability
    • Default Variant — Mark one variant as the default selection on the product page

Example: A t-shirt product with:

  • Option 1: Size (S, M, L, XL)
  • Option 2: Color (Black, White, Navy)

Creates 12 variants (4 sizes × 3 colors), each with its own inventory count, SKU, and optional pricing.

Bilingual Option Labels

Option labels and values are translatable. "Size" in English becomes "المقاس" in Arabic. "Color" becomes "اللون". Your customers see options in their preferred language.

Specifications

For products where details matter — electronics, fitness equipment, furniture, beauty products — Cartaro's specification system lets you present technical details clearly:

Shared Specifications

Create reusable specification templates that apply across your catalog:

  • Name — The specification label (e.g., "Weight", "Material", "Battery Life")
  • Prefix — Optional text before the value (e.g., "approx.")
  • Suffix — Optional text after the value (e.g., "kg", "hours", "ml")
  • Value Mode:
    • Options — Predefined choices (e.g., Cotton, Polyester, Silk for a "Material" spec)
    • Free Text — Custom text entry per product
    • Hybrid — Both predefined options and custom text allowed

Example: A "Weight" specification with suffix "kg" means when you enter "1.5" for a product, it displays as "1.5 kg" on the storefront.

Product-Level Specifications

Each product can use shared specifications (select from predefined values) or add custom specifications unique to that product. Specifications are drag-and-drop reorderable.

All specification names, values, prefixes, and suffixes are bilingual — displayed in Arabic or English based on the customer's language.

Brands

Organize products by brand to help customers shop by their favorite labels:

  • Brand Name — Bilingual (Arabic + English)
  • Description — Brand story or bio
  • Brand Logo — Upload a logo image
  • Featured Brands — Mark brands as featured for homepage promotion
  • SEO — Each brand gets its own SEO meta title and description
  • Active/Inactive — Control brand visibility on the storefront

Customers can browse by brand, and brand names appear in search results to improve product discoverability.

Collections (Categories and More)

Collections are how you organize products for browsing. They are flexible enough to serve as categories, campaigns, seasonal groupings, or any custom organization:

  • Hierarchical Structure — Collections can have parent-child relationships, creating a category tree (e.g., "Clothing" → "Men's" → "T-Shirts")
  • Name and Description — Bilingual collection names and descriptions
  • Hero Copy — Promotional text displayed at the top of the collection page
  • Sort Rules — Control how products are ordered within the collection (manual drag-and-drop ordering)
  • Featured Products — Mark specific products as featured within a collection
  • House-Made Collection — Auto-filter to show only your own-brand products
  • SEO — Each collection gets its own meta title and description

Using Collections Effectively

  • Product Categories: "Electronics", "Fashion", "Home & Kitchen"

A single product can belong to multiple collections, so your t-shirt can appear in "Men's Clothing", "New Arrivals", "Summer Essentials", and "Under AED 100" simultaneously.

Product Images

    • Thumbnail (320×320) — For product cards and listings
    • Card (640×640) — For collection grids

How It Works

  1. Click "Generate Description" on any product
  2. Select your tone: Professional, Casual, Luxury, or Technical
  3. The AI analyzes your product's title, brand, collection, price, specifications, and existing content
  4. It generates:
    • A short description (1-2 sentences for product cards)
    • A full description (2-4 formatted paragraphs for the product page)
  5. Both are generated in Arabic and English simultaneously
